Welcome from the Principal & Deputy Principals

As Principal of De La Salle College, I am delighted to welcome you to our College website. De La Salle College is an inclusive Catholic Voluntary Secondary School for boys with over 1,040 pupils today. It is a privilege to lead a Management team in a College steeped in history with a rich tradition of excellence in learning and teaching and extra curricular activites. De La Salle College is noted by visitors to our school as being a very warm and inviting place and this reflects the care and compassion shown by our staff to the students. Our students return this consideration creating a mutual atmosphere of respect.

The De La Salle Brothers have served the Community of Waterford from this historic establishment since 1890 and they continue to this day, to live amongst us and serve the needs of our College Community. The Gospel Values and the Lasallian ethos are cherished and promoted here in the College on a daily basis. Our motto ‘Praesis ut Prosis’ which translates in to ‘Lead in order to serve’ embodies the Ethos which prepares our students to make a difference to society. The five core Principles of the Lasallian ethos are;

• Faith in the Presence of God
• Concern for the poor and social justice

These Lasallian core Principles which are evident in the atmosphere of the College, prepare our students to take up their place in society with a passion for life and all it has to offer.

We offer them opportunities to develop in a spiritual, academic, cultural, pastoral and sporting domain. We place a high value on our co-operation with parents.
